Here are more reflections from Saturday’s Rosary prayer. I invite you to read the stories and consider joining us each month to pray.
Peace be with you.
Wow……………Today was my first visit to pray at the abortion clinic. I feel like I am just now beginning to understand why I have been drawn to get involved. As we prayed the Joyful Mysteries, I felt every emotion; sorrow, anger, fear, love, peace, grace, comfort, joy; though strangely I felt that my sorrow was overcome by the love of Jesus Christ. When I felt sad I was reminded of hope, when I felt anger I was reminded of grace, and strangely no emotion was unmet by God’s love. Hmmm…. I feel somehow different now. Today I felt the closest that I have ever come in my life to feeling the weight of the cross. Wow, one thing is certain, this cross was meant to be shared by many. I now feel compelled to share this experience and the cross with others, but how? I am reminded of a suggestion brought up at the last PEACE meeting. “Perhaps every parishioner can make a commitment to pray at the abortion clinic once a year.”
Sure, abortion is ugly and gross, but isn’t all sin? Yes, abortion is an especially ugly sin, but can’t we all look in the mirror? Take today for instance, one member of our group had an abortion early in life and was holding a sign that read, “I had an abortion and I regret it.” Wow…………As I thought about this I recalled that my own sins should include my inaction to prevent abortions. Hmmm……Is it an accident that some of us praying to stop abortions may have actually contributed to them? Aren’t grace and hope the beauty of our faith? I now feel compelled to encourage my brothers and sisters to protect the unborn. I am convinced that only by our numbers will we make a difference. For instance, I was told that an abortion clinic in Texas was closed only through a 24 hour, 7 day a week prayer vigil.I am reminded of the scripture in Luke chapter 19 that reads, When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began to joyfully praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:
“Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, order your disciples to stop!”
He replied, “I tell you, if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”~by Kevin
